Fungicide / Insecticide
Preparations used in Organic Gardening
Sulphur is used in Organic Gardening for the control of mites
including red spider, blister mite and citrus bud mite,
fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, rust and brown rot,
spot diseases of fruit and scale. It can also be used in higher doses on deciduous trees
in winter for the eradication of various insect eggs.It is obtainable as a combination
lime/sulphur spray (this being more effective than plain sulphur), dusting sulphur
(flowers of sulphur), or wettable sulphur, and has an exceptionally low toxicity level.
Wettable sulphur is compatible with nicotine sulphate and the two can be successfully used
as a dual purpose spray.
Sulphur preparations need to be applied to both the top and undersurface of leaves. For
this reason, when using dusting sulphur, first spray both sides of the leaves with
slightly soapy water to ensure adequate adhesion. DO NOT USE in
temperatures above 30°C / 86°F. |
